Wanamandawa Native Ayurvedic Drugs Manufactory was honoured with the Best Enterprise Award (Industry / Manufacturing Sector – Micro Scale) at the Wayamba Wijayabhimani Awards 2024, organised by the Industrial Services Bureau of the North Western Province. The roots of Wanamandawa Ayurvedic Company dates back to 1960 when Waidya Shiromani, Dr. P. J. Somaratne, established the Centre for the Treatment of Catarrh Diseases in Giriulla. His eldest son, Dr. P. G. Anura Kumara Somaratne, further expanded this legacy by founding the Wanamandawa Ayurvedic Medical Centre and the Ayurvedic Drugs Manufactory in 1988. Combining traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern techniques, the manufactory produces high-quality medicines while preserving the essence of traditional prescriptions. To address the scarcity of raw materials for Ayurvedic medicines, the company initiated Herbal Plantation Projects in Horagolla and Habarana in 2005. These plantations help cultivate and conserve essential herbs, ensuring the production of quality products.
