Vision Care Hearing Solutions’ first-ever online Open House helps patients interact with top international doctors

Vision Care Hearing Solutions, one of Sri Lanka’s pioneer hearing care solutions providers and a part of the island’s largest eye care solutions provider Vision Care, successfully conducted its very first online Open House program recently.

Through this unique Open House program patients were presented with the opportunity of interacting with two internationally qualified doctors of Audiology, Maureen Doty Tomasula from Oticon and Marielle Siy from Philips, free-of-charge. This novel approach was selected due to the pandemic situation where it was not possible for the doctors from abroad to fly to Sri Lanka for face-to-face discussions as they had done in the past.

Maureen Doty Tomasula is a Senior International Trainer for Oticon Export responsible for training support to Oticon distributors around the world. She also provides hearing care professionals with audiological and technical support related to Oticon products, as well as seminars for consumers and open house events. Marielle Siy is an International Product Trainer for Philips based in Switzerland. She has previously held roles as a clinical audiologist in a variety of retail, hospital, and clinical settings in Singapore since 2013. Her field of experience includes hearing aid fittings, audiological assessment for adults and pediatric clients and dizziness and balance assessment.

Vision Care Hearing Solutions made all necessary arrangements for the two doctors to conveniently study the patient reports and provide free consultation and recommendations on what solutions to pursue for each patient’s individual hearing care requirement. In order to enable the smooth functioning of the program, Vision Care ensured that the patients were tested on an earlier date and the reports sent to the doctor beforehand after which the video meeting was arranged for a consultation with the doctor. A large number of patients who were unable to find solutions for their hearing problems locally participated in the program. The doctors analyzed each of these complex cases thoroughly and expert opinion on their hearing problems and put their minds at ease by providing them an understanding of the solution that was most appropriate for them.

Chathira Siriwardena – Business Development Manager – Audiology Division, Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist of Vision Care Hearing Solutions stated, “This Open House program was based on a unique concept of utilizing the power of online platform to bring top international doctors to interact with local patients. Although we’ve had a series of open houses in the past in locations such as Maharagama, Wellawatte, Head Office in Ward Place, Kandy and Galle, this particular open house was special because it was done through the digital medium due to the pandemic situation in the world.”

Vision Care Hearing Solutions is the Sole Agent for Oticon and Philips in Sri Lanka, providing complete hearing aid solutions inclusive of after sales services, hearing aid accessories, hearing tests and home visits at all their branches islandwide.
