Colombo, Sri Lanka: Virtusa Sri Lanka honored its top performers and long-service employees at a gala awards night held recently at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The winners comprised of 129 employees who completed 10, 15, 20+ and 25+ years of service at the company, and 60 top performers who were recognized for excelling in delivery and shared services, and their contribution to the company’s globally benchmarked customer satisfaction.
The event was graced by Virtusa’s senior leadership led by Country Head Sri Lanka and Business Head APAC at Virtusa, Naresha Supramaniam. The awards gala highlighted Virtusa’s well established and highly retained employer brand loyalty among its employees, and its acclaimed work culture that has remained key in attracting and retaining top Sri Lankan talent.
“It gives me great pleasure to be here today to recognize, appreciate and celebrate your contributions to Virtusa,” Country Head Sri Lanka Naresha Supramaniam stated as he addressed the winners during the event. “In many ways, this is your company – one that you have built and nurtured over the years. You have also been instrumental in building an industry that did not exist 25 years ago, to one that contributes over a billion dollars to the Sri Lankan economy. This is your day; it is for you to enjoy.”
The Virtusa Service Excellence and Long Service Awards has become a highly anticipated annual event in the employee engagement calendar, and fosters appreciation of employees who have proven their dedication and loyalty to the company. It also promotes peer recognition across the workplace by ensuring employees are nominated for service excellence awards by their peers. All nominees are evaluated against category-specific criteria by a cross-functional human resource and operations panel.
“We consider the award winners present here today as an extended part of our leadership, beyond title and designation,” Sampath Thrimavithana, Head of Human Resources of Virtusa Sri Lanka stated during the event. “There are two very important leadership qualities we celebrate today; the impact you have had on your peers internally, and the impact you have had externally on our clients and their businesses. Your achievements reflect something about you, and that is your resilience through the challenges we have faced during the last year, to come out on top as the future leaders of this growing industry.”
A number of performances by leading Sri Lankan musicians and artists as well as a few multi-talented Virtusans provided toe-tapping entertainment during the night.
