UK Parliamentarian Ranil Jayawardena has been asked by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to serve as the Trade Minister during the COVID-19 pandemic, reports claimed. The UK politician of Sri Lankan origins is representing the British Conservative Party and has been a member of Parliament for North East Hampshire since May 2015.
Mr. Jayawardena is also the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party since 2020. Born in London, England, he moved to Hampshire before starting school.
In a tweet the MP mentioned, “It’s a great privilege to have been asked by Boris Johnson to serve as a trade minister at this crucial time. I look forward to meeting with Liz Truss to underpin the government’s agenda for ‘Global Britain’. Much to do.”
