The top performing dealers of the Tokyo Cement Group’s island-wide reseller network were treated to a unique recognition event, which included a Factory Visit and a memorable stay in Trincomalee. Tokyo Cement Group decided to transform this year’s Annual Dealer Convention into an unforgettable experience for the dealers as well as their family members, by coupling it up with a weekend stay in Trincomalee, which also gave them the opportunity to have a detailed tour around the state-of-the-art manufacturing hub of the company.
The event, which brought together all members of the sales and distribution channel, marked the annual gathering of nearly 200 top performing Tokyo Cement Dealers across Sri Lanka in celebration of their accomplishments. 159 best performers in last year’s dealer competition from various categories walked away with prizes at the event, making it a memorable get-together, held for the first time at Tokyo Cement’s birthplace in Trincomalee. City Hardware & Stores – Jaffna won the Grand Prize for Best Dealer 2019, with Ancheneyer Cement & Hardware Dealers – Batticaloa and National Trading Stores – Kurunegala winning the 1st and 2nd Runner Up positions respectively.
Held at the newly inaugurated Centre for Technical Excellence at the heart of the Tokyo Eastern Cement Factory, the dealer appreciation event was graced by Mr. S.R. Gnanam – Managing Director, Mr. Christopher Fernando – Director Consultant, Mr. M. Thayananthan – Group Chief Operating Officer of Tokyo Cement Co. (Lanka) PLC and Mr. V.M. Ravindrakumar – Director, Tokyo Eastern Cement Co. / GM, Factory, among other key management executives of Tokyo Cement Group.
Managing Director of Tokyo Cement Co. (Lanka) PLC, Mr. S.R. Gnanam, addressing the ceremony welcomed the Tokyo Cement Dealers to the ancestral birthplace of the Company, and reminisced the beginning of its operations and how the company grew to where it is today, drawing strength from the loyalty and trust of its reseller network. He also iterated how Tokyo Cement has always focused on maintaining its superior quality at all times, despite challenging market conditions, allowing it to earn the trust of every household across the country. He also pointed out that this factory visit is yet another opportunity for the dealers to become firsthand witnesses of the cutting-edge manufacturing process and stringent quality controls practiced by the Company, which will give them the confidence to build their future success on Tokyo Cement Group.
The factory visit included an exclusive guided tour around all the manufacturing plants, the fully-equipped laboratory facilities within the Centre for Technical Excellence, as well as biomass power plants at Tokyo Cement Factory premises. The groups had the rare opportunity to follow the entire cement manufacturing process, from the point of clinker unloading, from a bulk cargo vessel at the Tokyo Cement’s private jetty in Cod Bay, to the point of bagged cement being loaded to a transport trailer. Guided by the plant engineers and field sales officers, the Dealer Partners visited the mangrove nurseries and the forestry tree plant nurseries housed inside the factory premises, giving them the chance to see how Tokyo Cement contributes to enrich our nation. The event culminated in an evening fellowship function full of glamour and entertainment for all the invited dealers and their families. The evening provided a chance to relax and mingle with the Tokyo Cement team while celebrating the success among their peers.
