The SLASSCOM 2020 RPA conference -an enabler to drive local business transformation

RPA 1 (1)

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is one of the hottest new emerging technologies globally. This is a software technology, as opposed to a physical robot, has the potential to automate rule based sequential tasks, freeing up valuable human resources for more value added functions. It can be imagined as a virtual work force that operates 24/7 performing repetitive and simple tasks , thereby enabling employees be free to do more value added tasks for the organization.

RPA today has therefore become a key technology to adapt, as businesses digitally transform, with more CIOs across the world, turning towards RPA to streamline enterprise operations, reduce costs and automate mundane rules-based business processes.

Others see RPA as a stopgap en route to intelligent automation (IA) via machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, which can be trained to make judgments about future outputs.

As such, SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies) has taken the initiative to organize the 2020 RPA online conference to be organized from the 9-11th December., providing an invaluable 3-day opportunity for local businesses to network with industry specialists and educate themselves of this disruptive technology.

Jehan Perinpanaygam, SLASSCOM Finance Director and Board representative for the BPM Forum stated “ While the potential benefits of RPA are real, organizations must be very deliberate in developing their RPA plans, basing them on a solid understanding of the technology and its applicability. RPA deployment plans must be tied into the roadmap for the business processes. Also, organisationsmust have the  enabling culture leadership and strategies for a successful RPA journey. RPA is not just for the techies but will increasingly be used in every function, in ever industry and a technology that all professionals must have awareness’.”
