The new Treasurer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has been appointed as the new Treasurer of the department of phytomaternal medicine professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar. This information was informed in a notification signed by Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday 1 September 2024.



 

It is said in the notification, with the approval of His Excellency the President and Acharya, Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar, Chairman, Department of Phytomaternal Medicine, BSMMU, Dhaka has been appointed to the vacant post of Treasurer, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. His term of appointment as treasurer will be 4 (four) years.

Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar obtained MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College in 1985. Former student of BAF Shaheen School and Holy Cross College. Nahreen Akhtar obtained DGO degree in 1995 and FCPS degree from BCPS in 1998 under Dhaka University. He started his career as a doctor in 1987. He started his teaching career in 2003 as Assistant Professor in Obs and Gynecology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. In 2006, he served as Associate Professor in the Phytomaternal Medicine Wing of the University and in 2015 as a Professor in the Department of Phytomaternal Medicine. Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar served as the department head chairman from 2020 to 2023.

This talented teacher has about half a hundred publications at national and international level. He has served as a guide in various research programs and has presented papers in various conferences at national and international levels. Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar is a Life Member of BCPS, Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. He is also Vice President of Phytomaternal Medicine Society of Bangladesh and working member of Bangladesh Perinatal Society.
