The MMCA Sri Lanka Hosts a Gallery Talk for ‘Total Landscaping’ Rotation 2

T. Sanathanan

The free public programmes for the month of February at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka (MMCA Sri Lanka) will include a Gallery Talk on Wednesday, 19 February, from 5:30 to 7 pm. The talk will feature artist and academic T. Shanaathanan and Professor Neloufer de Mel in conversation with Sandev Handy, Senior Curator at the MMCA Sri Lanka.

The discussion will delve into three of Shanaathanan’s works— ‘Grandma’s Courtyard II’ (2004), ‘Drawers of War Transactions’ (2019), and ‘Nation’ (2015)— which are currently on display at Rotation 2 of the exhibition ‘Total Landscaping’ at the MMCA Sri Lanka. The speakers will draw connections between the artworks and de Mel’s research on militarism, memory, and popular culture. This event, with its captivating exploration of art, history, and societal transformation, is not one to miss!

Remember, admission to the museum and all events is free, offering a perfect opportunity for cultural exploration and discovery. ‘Total Landscaping’ concludes its second rotation on 2 March 2025, making February the final opportunity to engage with the artworks currently on display. Rotation 3 of ‘Total Landscaping’ opens on 15 March.
