Colombo, Sri Lanka – The Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan (RCCM) is proud to announce the 8th annual Dialog Enterprise Rotary Par 3 Charity Golf Classic, set to take place on October 26th, 2024, at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). As a highlight of Sri Lanka’s golfing calendar, this event showcases a unique and challenging golf experience and serves a noble cause, raising funds for RCCM’s community service projects, particularly the Rotary for Little Hearts Project.
The Dialog Enterprise Rotary Par 3 Charity Golf Classic, known for transforming the 18-hole RCGC course into a Par 54 layout, challenges golfers with a distinct twist where every hole is played as a Par 3. The event offers a mix of fun, competitiveness, and camaraderie, drawing some of the most enthusiastic golfers from Sri Lanka’s business and sports communities. Tee-off times are scheduled for 7:00 AM and 12 Noon, giving participants two opportunities to experience this exciting format.
However, beyond the game lies the event’s true purpose of raising funds for RCCM’s various community initiatives. This year, the Rotary for Little Hearts Project takes centre stage as the main avenue for fundraising, aiming to support the expansion of pediatric cardiac care at Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Colombo.
The Rotary for Little Hearts Project is part of Rotary District 3220’s efforts to raise US$1 million to upgrade the pediatric cardiac and intensive care facilities at LRH, Sri Lanka’s leading children’s hospital. With the number of congenital heart defects on the rise, the hospital faces significant demand for life-saving surgeries and intensive care. The funds raised will go toward increasing ICU capacity, enhancing surgical facilities, and ensuring every child receives timely treatment.
President of RCCM, Roshan Peries, expressed her gratitude: “The Dialog Enterprise Rotary Par 3 Charity Golf Classic is not just a sporting event, but a platform for us to make a lasting impact. Thanks to Dialog Enterprise, Platinum Sponsor Asia Securities, Real Estate Partner Sovereign Maxwell Holdings and the Bank of Ceylon we continue to serve underprivileged communities through projects like ‘Rotary for Little Hearts.’ Together, we can ensure that every child has access to the healthcare they deserve.”
Dialog Enterprise has proudly supported RCCM’s mission to uplift underprivileged communities for many years. Navin Peiris, Group Chief Officer of Dialog Enterprise, expressed his enthusiasm for partnering with the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan for this special event. He highlighted the tournament’s significant contributions, including funding congenital heart surgeries for underprivileged children and various initiatives. He emphasised Dialog Enterprise’s commitment to positively impacting both the sport of golf in Sri Lanka which is patronised by our clientele and the lives of needy children benefiting from this partnership’s life-saving work.
This year’s event continues to be a standout in the golfing community. Amrith de Soysa, Captain of RCGC, highlighted the Club’s commitment to charitable causes: “We are thrilled to host the 8th Dialog Enterprise Rotary Par 3 Charity Golf Classic. Our members look forward to this tournament for the enjoyment of golf and the chance to contribute to worthy causes like the ‘Rotary for Little Hearts.’ We are also very happy to announce that this year once again RCGC and RCCM will partner in distributing school supplies to children of our caddies and minor staff through our annual CSR initiative.”
Asia Securities is continuing its partnership for this event with RCCM for a fourth consecutive year, as Platinum Sponsor. Asia Securities’ Chairman Dumith Fernando said, “Having begun partnering with the Dialog Enterprise Rotary Par 3 Charity Golf Classic in a small way, we are now delighted to be its sole Platinum Sponsor in recognition of the life-saving causes supported by it.
