State Minister Palak inaugurates Groundbreaking of a USD 300 Million investment for setting up Bangladesh’s first Biotech industry

Oryx Bio-Tech in collaboration with China Biologic Products, a U.S. NASDAQ listed Biotech Company, begun the construction of their Plasma Fractionation Plant in Block-II of Summit Technopolis in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City located in Kaliakoir, Gazipur on 01 March 2021  Monday. With an investment of USD 300 Million, Oryx Bio-Tech’s plasma fractionation plant in Block II of Summit Technopolis will produce plasma derivatives, also known as Life Saving Therapeutics – hence making it the first biotech foreign direct investment in Bangladesh. It
is a timely investment for Bangladesh’s healthcare research and service sector. This project is expected to employ about 2,000 high value jobs from the science and technology background.

The Honorable State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division  Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP as the chief guest of the groundbreaking event said, “The Oryx project will open an era of biotech industry and open the door for other such hi-tech projects for Bangladesh.”

During the program Kazi Shakil, Chairman of Oryx Bio-Tech said, “The Oryx plant will produce Life Saving Therapeutics that are currently produced only in the most advanced countries of the world.”

 




Directors of Summit Group Fadiah Khan said, “Summit is welcoming hi-tech investors in Bangladesh, a regional hub in the near future that will open doors of opportunities to our tech-savvy youth. Bangladesh has shown its resilience with COVID management and we are here to support the nation to take next step of economic growth.”

NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary of  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division and Hosne Ara Begum ndc, Managing Director (Secretary), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) were present as the special guests.  Among other distinguished guests present were Managing Director  of  China  Oryx Bio-Tech’s  David Bo,  China Commercial Councilor of Bangladesh  Leo Zinhua,  Managing Director  of Summit Technopolis Abu Reza Khan.
