Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) has lined up a unique event to celebrate World Badminton Day in Colombo on Saturday, July 6. This event, part of a global celebration that takes place in 178 countries, will commence with a vibrant march starting at 8:45 am near the SLB Headquarters.
Over 350 participants will join the festivities, including top SLB officials, Executive Committee members, SLB staff, the National Badminton Pool athletes, SLB’s Regional Development Committee-run training pools and coaches, Parents’ Committees of Pools, as well as representatives from various schools. The march will be a spectacle of color and sound, featuring decorated vehicles and musical bands, flanked by the Sri Lanka Air Force Band.
The parade will follow a route covering SLB – Maitland Place – Horton Place – Albert Crescent – Independence Avenue – SLB, totaling a distance of 2.8 kilometers.
The opening ceremony will be graced by Chief Guest, State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rohana Dissanayake, alongside SLB President Rohan De Silva and Regional Development Committee (RDC) Chairman Roshan Gunawardena.
