The Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists (SLCE) and Morison Ltd commenced the second batch of their ‘Certificate Training Course in Diabetes Care’ on October 13th 2024. Following the success of the inaugural batch, with over 65 General Practitioners (GPs) completing the program, the second batch has received similar attention and enthusiasm with more than 60 GPs enrolled.
The initiative, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, aims to empower primary healthcare professionals with the latest tools and knowledge in diabetes management. The Certificate Training Program between SLCE and Morison was formed in February 2024 addressing the critical need for widespread expertise in diabetes care, as the disease’s prevalence outpaces the capacity of specialists alone to manage it effectively.
The launch of the second batch highlights the program’s success and the ongoing commitment of SLCE, the leading authority at the forefront of diabetes and Morison, a truly Sri Lankan pharmaceutical manufacturer with over 60 years of industry expertise, to enhance diabetes care across Sri Lanka. As the nation wrestles with a growing diabetes epidemic, this long-term, credible training program for GPs represents a significant step towards improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden on the healthcare system.
