Colombo, Sri Lanka: Rohan de Silva retained his position at the helm of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) at the Annual General Meeting held at the SLB Headquarters Auditorium in Colombo, on Monday.
The sole contestant for the post of SLB President, de Silva, who has been at the helm of the country’s badminton governing body since 2019, has been instrumental in driving the development and growth of the sport. His re-election reflects the widespread appreciation for his contributions and the recognition of his leadership achievements.
The general election also witnessed the appointment of several other key office bearers who will work closely with President de Silva to support and regulate the sport in the country.
The newly elected Vice Presidents include Roshan Gunawardane, Rohan Fernando, Buddhika de Silva, Chamara Aluthge,Dinesh M Jayawardane, Mohan Wijesinghe, and Aliyar Faizer. Their combined experience and expertise are expected to provide valuable insights and strategic guidance to the association.
Taking up the crucial position of Secretary is Ajith Wijayasinghe, and the newly elected Assistant Secretary are, K P Jaliya Jayasekera, and W P G Punchihewa. Their roles will include managing administrative tasks, coordinating events, and providing support to the various committees within the association.
Mangala Gamage has been entrusted with the role of Treasurer, responsible for managing the association’s finances and ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial matters. Supporting Gamage in this capacity are the Assistant Treasurers, Renu Chandrika and R M S G Rathnayake.
The newly elected office bearers of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association will begin their terms immediately, and their collective efforts are expected to propel the sport to new heights within the nation.
