In this background below are excerpts of an interview with Ashish Gujral who is Export Manager for Santa Lucia Mobili.
Q: Tell us about yourself?
A: I am currently the Export Manager for Santa Lucia Mobili, a company with 52 years of experience in design and home solutions, headquartered in Prata di Pordenone, Italy. Santa Lucia Mobili, exports in 45 countries with a turnover of approx. 25 million euros.
I was born in India and moved to Italy at an early age of 17 under a scholarship program for Architectural studies. While studying design and architecture I sensed that I was not only interested in creation aspects but also application of design in modern and everyday context. After completing of architecture from University of Venice I started my journey in furniture sector. On my way up I experimented with various concepts dealing with day/night living, open spaces, dabbled also in kitchen sector.
Q: How do you describe yourself?
A: I am a born marketer with innate sensibility for design, good living, a believer in delivering excellent service to customers and understanding their needs. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring new travel destinations with his wife and listening to Jazz music. I also love photography specially capturing sunsets.
Q: What does Santa Lucia provide?
A: Santa Lucia is a leading furniture design and manufacturing company in Italy, with over 52 years of experience in the field. First started in Prata di Pordenone in Italy in the year 1965, the founders boast of a passion for wood and furniture. The Company currently has two production sites, and are in the forefront of production systems with continuous investment and an eye for anticipating what the consumer of the future will need. Q: How do you see Space and Santa Lucia Mobili partnership in Sri Lanka?
A: Space Italia is the exclusive agent for both Santa Lucia products and Alta Cucina products in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Once more it is wonderful to see that Sri Lanka is being approached by famous European brands, and proves that the local consumers’ tastes and styles have also changed over the years, with people yearning for a taste of exclusivity even in their homes.
