Raises over LKR 7 million in a week, through #ActForWIN Campaign

(COLOMBO, Mar-2025) Spa Ceylon, the globally renowned, iconic Luxury Ayurveda brand from Sri Lanka, united several renowned local brands to raise vital funding for Women In Need (WIN), through #ActForWIN: a campaign aimed at building a safer future for women and girls of Sri Lanka, raising more than LKR 7 million within one week.

The campaign was launched amidst a severe funding crisis faced by WIN – a non-profit, non-governmental organization, that has been operating in the country for more than 35 years – due to the sudden stoppage of USAID-funded projects such as itself. WIN provides crisis support, shelters, and resources for women facing all forms of abuse and violence, to overcome their challenges and rebuild their lives, helping more than 20,000 women and girls each year.

Fundraising for #ActForWIN commenced via the www.karuna.lk crowdfunding donation portal, which saw an overwhelming response from the general public, and leading local brands, who rallied to support the cause, as Project Partners, and Project Associates.

“#ActForWIN made local brands choose collaboration over competition, for a larger purpose, and a greater cause. We are grateful for everyone who joined hands with us for this initiative and see it as a positive step forward, in using our collective voices to support women and girls of our island home”, said Spa Ceylon Co-Founder and Group Director, Shalin Balasuriya. “WIN has several high-risk clients who turn to them for help, at the lowest points in their lives. All these donations, big or small, contribute to help WIN fight another day for the women and girls in our communities, to help them move on, and in some cases, to save a life”, Balasuriya said further.

“To see what began as an idea for this year’s International Women’s Day reach this level of support from across the country, from individuals and businesses alike, is very encouraging for the entire team involved in this initiative. At Spa Ceylon, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our community, country, planet, and fellow beings. By helping vulnerable women and girls, together, we not only give them another chance at life, we are uplifting communities, and empowering them for a better future”, said Spa Ceylon Co-Founder and Managing Director, Shiwantha Dias.

Contributing to the #ActForWIN campaign is open to the general public, and donations can be made via  https://karuna.lk/program/actforwin as card payments or bank slips. In addition, Dialog mobile subscribers can donate via Star Points, eZ Cash, or add the donation to their monthly bill up to LKR 2,500.
