SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT and Telecommunication Service Provider, celebrated Thai Pongal at the District General Hospital -Vavuniya this year, joining in the festive rituals and making a worthy donation.
Thai Pongal commemorates nature’s bountiful harvest and new beginnings. Celebrating this special festival, sharing fellowship and goodwill, SLT-MOBITEL officials participated in the Thai Pongal rituals at a ceremony organised at the Hospital premises.
During the ceremony, M. Pathmachuthan, General Manager- North & East, SLT handed over a donation of Rs. 1 million worth of ICU beds to Dr. K.Rahulan , Director of the District General Hospital- Vavuniya. In keeping with Thai Pongal traditions, rituals were conducted by the Pūjari. Representatives from SLT-MOBITEL and staff of the Vavuniya hospital actively participated in the event.
SLT-MOBITEL’s donation to the hospital is part of its corporate social responsibility efforts towards the well-being of communities. Since the onset of the pandemic, SLT-MOBITEL have continued to intensify activities to ensure connectivity for all Sri Lankans and provide relief through distribution of dry rations and supporting the health sector with vital equipment and other donations.
