Reaffirming its commitment to recognizing those who have gone beyond boundaries in serving the nation, SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT Solutions Provider, introduced two new packages under ‘Upahara’ in celebration of its 15th anniversary celebration at Shangri-La Colombo recently. The ceremony was graced by Hon. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardana, secretaries representing state institutions, and distinguished guests of the state sector.

Chief Operating Officer Sudharshana Geeganage in his opening remarks said, “As the National ICT Solutions Provider, SLT-MOBITEL is privileged to serve the dedicated citizens who devote their lives to uplifting our economy and nation. Today, the launch of the next phase of ‘Upahara’ marks a significant milestone in our journey towards empowering the state sector with superior connectivity solutions. As we strive towards fulfilling the government’s vision in creating a knowledge rich society through DIGIECON 2030, the national digital economy acceleration initiative, ‘Upahara’ further endorses our commitment to building a digital Sri Lanka through innovation and a promise to bridge the digital divide.”

Over the years, ‘Upahara’ has played a critical role in bolstering Sri Lanka’s state sector and its contribution towards the national economy. Within three months of its launch in 2008, ‘Upahara’ reached half a million users and today, ‘Upahara’ has the power to touch millions of lives due to its exclusive features where each person can obtain up to 2 connections per package, totalling of 4 connections from the two packages to stay connected with their families and loved ones.

Additionally, the highlight of the evening was the invitation of long-standing ‘Upahara’ customers, representing the true connection they have towards SLT-MOBITEL since the inception of ‘Upahara’ in 2008. Further, 16 representatives from key state categories were also present on the occasion, symbolizing how ‘Upahara’ empowers myriad of sectors encompassing teachers, doctors, nurses, armed forces, and other personnel. Through ‘Upahara’, SLT-MOBITEL is extending a sincere heartfelt appreciation for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in contributing to the progress of the nation and uplifting the economy.
