SLT-MOBITEL empowers the women in Eastern Sri Lanka

 



 

 

 

SLT-MOBITEL, the national ICT solution services provider, joining hands with the Sri Lanka Chamber of Tourism and Industry conducted a women empowerment program in Arugam Bay recently, in line with the International Women’s Day 2022.

During this program which was graced by Major General (R) Umar Farooq Burki, the Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka as the chief guest, recognised women entrepreneurs in the Arugam Bay area, who own micro businesses. Moreover, both SLT-MOBITEL and Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka donated dry ration packets to the widows who lost their spouse by the Tsunami and Covid-19.

Representing SLT-MOBITEL, M. Pathmachuthan, General Manager (acting) – North & East Region, SLT and Y. Gobinath, Deputy General Manager- Eastern Province, SLT participated in the program. A.M Jauffer, the President- Chamber of tourism & industry, Tissa Jayaweera, Advisor to the Chamber and Padma Siriwardane – Managing director, Tourism Promotion Bureau also attended the event.

In addition to that, branded t-shirts were given to the tourist sector employees with more priority to women in the area for the ease of identification as authorised tourist service provides.
