SLT-MOBITEL debuts Multi-Purpose Recreation Centre to nurture and engage employees

A step towards achieving asset utilization in full capacity

With an aim to build a sense of community, nurture and engage staff, SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT Solutions Provider launched its Multi-Purpose Recreation Centre located in Poththode, Katana recently.

The Recreation Centre has been commissioned on a SLT-MOBITEL owned property covering 4 acres. The outstanding facility currently comprises two main areas such as quarters for officers across two acres and a wide-expansive playground over 40 perches. The venue also includes quarters for minor staff set on 1.75 acres. Previously, the premises functioned as SLT Officers quarters and also served as a Covid treatment center to support staff during the pandemic.

The launch of the new facility was graced by Rohan Fernando-Group Chairman, Lalith Seneviratne – Group CEO, Janaka Abeysinghe –CEO (SLT), Chandika Vitharena –CEO (Mobitel) and senior officials of the SLT-MOBITEL.

With a mindset of providing quality recreational opportunities, experiences and facilities to grow as a community, SLT-MOBITEL aims to enhance the Multi-Purpose Recreation Centre in the future creating a more diverse setting for staff with a wider range of services on offer.

The main objective of launching the venue is primarily to offer SLT-MOBITEL staff wider facilities and enhance their welfare and to facilitate convenient outbound training experience in one environment. The venue will also host external programmes. The Centre also serves SLT-MOBITEL’s goal of achieving asset utilization in full capacity, securing long term cost reductions through elimination of training operational costs while also generating additional revenue through external venue and programme hosting. The large land area will enable the National ICT Solutions Provider to promote sustainability through green features.

Future amenities for the Centre include a Holiday Bungalow, a well-equipped Recreation Center for staff, ability to host SLT Training Centre events and also as a venue for internal and external sporting tournaments.

Overall, the Centre aims to support the well-being of employees, nurturing camaraderie, as well as to offer a world-class experience to visitors.
