Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) organized the ‘’SLIM Brand Week 2019’’, a five day brand-marketing symposium for the second consecutive year with the theme of ‘’Power of Branding’’. The symposium is recognized as a premier national event dedicated to entrepreneurs and all corporate personnel serving the marketing fraternity of Sri Lanka. Following a successful campaign in November 2018 which took place at the BMICH, this year’s Brand Week make a welcome return with a host of master classes and key note speeches from eminent professionals.
SLIM Brand Week 2019 will be held from 4th to 8th November 2019 at the BMICH Jasmine Hall. There will be a series of speeches to light up the brand week from well-known speakers educating the importance of brands and brand building. The first speech of the series of speeches will be delivered on the 4th of November, the first day of the brand week by Ruchi Gunewardene – Managing Director – Brand Finance Sri Lanka on ‘’Brand as an asset’’, followed by a speech on the 5th of November on ‘’Brand supremacy through service excellence’’ by Hiran Cooray – Chairman – Jetwing Symphony PLC & The Lighthouse Hotel PLC. Yasas Hewage – Entrepreneur, Sales Coach and Marketing Educator, Co-founder Strategy College, Founder Spinner will deliver a speech on a ‘’Brand story’’ on the 6th of November. There will be another speech on 7th of November by Rohan Jayaweera – Head of Marketing & Alliances – John Keells IT on ‘’Emerging Business Intelligence from Big Data for Today’s businesses’’.
A CXO forum has also been organized with the theme of “Sri Lanka beyond 2020”. The forum will be conducted in the form of a panel discussion where the top corporate officials in Sri Lanka come on board to discuss on how to develop brands and the importance of brands and brand building will be a highlighted throughout the forum.
With the vision to create a corporate platform that challenges brands to conceptualize and apply experiences and solutions for a better tomorrow, the Brand Week will serve as a foundation to build on to share knowledge and come up with new conceptualizations to evolve viable solutions in the future. Moreover, it will explore future brands and emerging technologies which bring about brand excellence.
The Brand Week will also be instrumental in measuring strong brands and providing more choices to ensure a competitive economy that will positively improve Sri Lanka’s economy and render rapid growth. For a developing country like Sri Lanka, promoting brands and building viable and quintessential business plans to deal with the current economic situation of the country, is an essential requirement.
