SLIIT honours staff achievements in dazzling awards ceremony

The SLIIT Staff Awards Night 2023, a prestigious event celebrating the hard work and achievements of the academic and non-academic staff of SLIIT, successfully made its return after a three-year hiatus. The gala event was held at the Ramada, Colombo, on the evening of December 8th, 2023, marking an unforgettable occasion filled with recognition, entertainment, and camaraderie.

 



 

The event, which could not be organized during the last few years due to the global pandemic, was attended by 400 enthusiastic participants, eager to reunite and honour the exceptional performance and dedication of their peers. The night demonstrated the resilience and dedication of the SLIIT staffing community, whose significant contributions during the challenging pandemic period received special applause for their unwavering spirit.

In a celebration of excellence, awards were distributed in three main categories for both academic and non-academic staff, with each category highlighting different aspects of the contributions made by these invaluable individuals. Awards for Researcher of the Year, Outstanding Teacher and Outstanding Overall Achievement were also presented under each level.

Winners included Category A – Researcher of the Year Award – Nilmini Rathnayake, Lecturer, SLIIT Business School and Outstanding Teacher Award – Shanitha Mirihana, Assistant Lecturer, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences.

In Category B – Researcher of the Year Award and Outstanding Teacher Award were awarded to Dr. Charitha Jayaruk, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences while Outstanding Overall Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Anuradha Jayakody, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Computing.

For Category C – Researcher of the Year Award – Prof. Ruwan Jayathilaka, Professor, SLIIT Business School, Outstanding Teacher Award – Prof. Sriyani Peiris, Senior Professor, Faculty of Humanities & Sciences and Outstanding Overall Achievement Award to Prof. Ruwan Jayathilaka, Professor, SLIIT Business School

In the Non-Academic Staff Awards, Category A, Outstanding Performer Award – M A Rathnasiri, Department of Facility Management, Category B, Outstanding Performer Award Lahiru Madushanka, Department of Administration and in Category C, Outstanding Performer Award to Pushamala Perera, Senior Librarian, Library.

The night’s festivities continued with dance performances, live music and an exciting raffle draw with numerous valuable prizes.

SLIIT Staff Awards Night 2023 was a night to remember with staff celebrating each other’s achievements continuing the environment of recognition and growth, nurturing the spirit of excellence.
