SLIIT Business School Student Research Conference showcases new generation of scholars in corporate analysis

Showcasing a new generation of scholars emerging to carry forward analysis on corporate culture, the SLIIT Business School together with its Student Community hosted the 14th SLIIT Business School Student Research Conference (SBSSRC) on 10th of December 2021 which concluded on an extremely successful note.

The objective of organising the annual Conference is to promote student research, while increasing the enthusiasm among students for academic research. The event was open to all business research students in Sri Lanka. The Conference was an ideal platform for students to showcase scholarly work and participate in discussions and multidisciplinary research topics with students from other higher educational institutions in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Harsha de Silva, Member of Parliament was the Chief Guest. During the morning session, Dilith Jayaweera, Chairman of George Steuart Group and Sahan Yapa, CEO, Spera Labs delivered keynote speeches. Eyaz Fazul, CEO, RHODA and Sandun Wijemanna, Chairman, Serendib Music Group participated in a panel discussion which was moderated by Rochana Silva, President SBSSC. The thought-provoking morning sessions were under the theme was ‘Tomorrow’s Tycoons’.

During the afternoon session Dr. Au Wee Chang, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business, Monash University, Malaysia delivered the keynote address on ‘Work Life Balance during a Pandemic’, a relevant topic discussed in today’s context.

A highlight of the day was five conference tracks submitted by participants which were chaired by senior academics from National Universities in Sri Lanka.

Prof. Lalith Gamage, MD/CEO of SLIIT, Prof. Lakshaman Rathnayake, Chairman, SLIIT, Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda, Dean, SLIIT Business School, other senior academics and non-academics from SLIIT participated in the conference along with over 600 students.

Organising the memorable event was Ms. Udanee Samarasinghe as the Conference Chair, Anupama Dissanayake and Naduni Madhawika, Conference Co-Chairs. Proceedings of the day concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Nilmini Rathnayake, Secretary SBSSRC.
