Joining hands with the top ranked Curtin University Australia, SLIIT recently celebrated the success of a record number of graduates in the field of Information Technology and Engineering.
The event whilst celebrating the achievements of their current graduates, also recognized and celebrated the success of their alumni who were in attendance in large numbers.
Prof: Deborah Terry AO Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University in her address stated that she was truly impressed in witnessing the outstanding accomplishments of the students and congratulated the management and staff of SLIIT for maintaining such high standards since the beginning of Curtin’s relationship that spanned over a period of 18 years. She informed the audience that up to date over 1300 students have graduated with top honors in Curtin University degrees from SLIIT. This she said speaks volumes of the strength of Curtin’s partnership with SLIIT and showcases how well the mutual vision and respect they have for each other has produced great results. .She added that Curtin will continue to further establish their footprint in Sri Lanka through their affiliation with SLIIT.
Professor Lalith Gamage, Managing Director and CEO of SLIIT, endorsed these comments and expressed his pride at the achievements of the graduates. He explained the fruitfulness of their relationship with Curtin that has enabled Sri Lankan students to gain some of the most well renowned qualifications and degrees from one of the top universities in the world. He affirmed that they will continue to maintain the high standards that is expected of them as a partner institute of Curtin, which would include the curriculums they delivered and the teaching methodologies of the faculties. He said their main aim was to the produce top professionals that organizations across the world needed .Having commenced with Information Technology, he said they have now broadened their offerings by delivering top qualifications in the fields of Business Management, Hospitality, Law and Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Nursing
Mr.Chamila Kohona, the president of the Curtin in Sri Lanka Alumni Chapter also addressed the gathering and pledged the continued support of the Alumni for both SLIIT and the current graduates and in taking the message of the value that can be derived from attaining a degree from Curtin University.
The event ended on a high note with the best performing student of the batch Ms.Hasini Hettige, carrying away the Curtin University, Alumni Chapter Award for outstanding achievement .
