4th October 2022, Colombo: The national insurer, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC), was honoured with the recognition of being one of ‘Sri Lanka’s Women Friendly Workplaces for 2022’ by The Women Friendly Workplace Awards Ceremony, jointly organized by AICPA, CIMA & Satyn. The award ceremony was held recently at Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, where CEO & the top management from SLIC accepted the award. SLIC was put further on centerstage when Ms. Nadeera Gunawardana, AGM – Non Motor, was nominated in the category of “She Wins” individual awards which is a matter of pride for the insurer. SLIC is proud of a workplace culture that includes women as 50% of the workforce.

The Satynmag CIMA Women Friendly Workplace Awards highlight the role played by women in the Sri Lankan workplace, giving participating companies the opportunity to enhance the level of recognition available to women in their workforce.

The evaluation for the awards was based on the criteria of Composition of Board and Senior management, Quality of Work Life, Training and Career Development, Commitment, Transparency and Accountability, through a written submission and face to face interview which DGM-Medical, AGM- Legal, AGM- Non Motor, AGM Finance, Brand Executive at Marketing Department, DGM HR&ER and AM-ER had participated to the interview.

SLIC has an anti-harassment policy that includes robust measures for disciplinary action and a company whistle blowing policy that empowers safety for women.
