SLASSCOM launched the Compensation and Benefits study for the IT and BPM industry for the seventh successive year. The study was initiated recently at a workshop with representation from many member companies, on the approach, data collection tool and the survey methodology. This year’s study will be conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who have partnered with SLASSCOM during 2011-2015 to produce this study.
The Compensation and Benefits study provides value to multiple stakeholder groups in the knowledge and innovation services space. For member companies, it provides the ability to align their compensation strategies based on their overall employee value proposition. Member companies are also able to compare the local benchmarks across streams such as Software Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Business Process Support, Business Analysis, Project/Program Management, Network Administration and other industry specific roles. The study is also structured to provide these insights across different sizes of companies in order to benchmark a company against a similar scale. This study is also a reliable tool for investors to assess the country attractiveness when looking at entry or expansion opportunities in Sri Lanka for the IT/BPM industry.
The workshop was attended by Chandi Dharmaratne, Senior Director HR Virtusa and Board member of SLASSCOM, and Ranil Rajapakse, Senior Vice President and COO of IFS R&D Limited and second Vice Chairman of SLASSCOM. Lasanga Abeysuriya – Head of Human Resource Consulting Services and Rashiki Carim – Associate Consultant – Human Resource Consulting Services, from PWC presented the approach and overall assessment timelines.
This year, for the purpose of engaging a wider number of participants to benefit the study, the survey will also contain a separate report created with only the general information that a company would choose to provide. Data such as workforce size and gender, staff turnover, increment percentages, bonuses budgeted and paid (as a percentage) would also be gathered during the survey. Participation in the survey is free of charge while there would be a cost to purchase the final study report. However, this report will be made available at a reduced price for SLASSCOM members participating in the survey.
