The staff of Seylan Bank recently contributed half a day’s salary, amounting to Rs. 7.7 million, to the children’s ward at Apeksha Hospital. Aimed at strengthening accessibility to resources for the hospital, the donated funds were used to procure IV Asparaginase 3750 IU (Hamsyl) and IV Terumo infusion Sets 200 Nos, two highly effective drugs with an 80% success rate in aiding the recovery of children suffering from leukaemia.
The drugs are reputed to have a significantly higher chance of treating the illness, consequently offering a more potent fighting chance compared to other treatment options. Additionally, a single vial of IV Asparaginase 3750 IU (Hamsyl) can treat up to three average-sized children at a time, an advantage that ensures the hospital can continue to treat patients. The purchase of the drugs marks a brighter future for the hospital’s treatment of children recovering from the challenging health condition.
Looking to create lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families, Seylan Bank’s collective contribution of half a day’s salary is one of their largest donations. Empowered by the contribution, Apeksha Hospital can positively affect as many patients under their care. The donation speaks for itself as a powerful example of unity and compassion, demonstrating Bank’s dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities and strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. Furthermore, the donation showcases the powerful reach and compassion achievable through collective employee action.
Speaking on the donation, Ramesh Jayasekera, Director/CEO of Seylan Bank said, “Over the years, Seylan staff have consistently supported causes that make a difference. This year marks another significant milestone. The Rs. 7.7 million contributed to Apeksha Hospital’s children’s ward is the largest donation we’ve made, since gifting the Colombo East Base Hospital in Mulleriyawa a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU). What makes this donation remarkable is that it was raised entirely through the generosity of our staff. This initiative reflects the power of collective action and the compassion of the Seylan Family. Together, we’ve provided hope to children battling leukemia and demonstrated how organizations can unite to create lasting change.”
