Scientific Seminar held on the Occasion of World Hypertension Day 2024

Association of Clinical Endocrinologists & Diabetologists of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Society of Cardiological Intervention, in collaboration with ACEDB HTN Endocrine Focal Group, organized a scientific seminar on the occasion of World High Blood Pressure Day at the Conference Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Super Specialized Hospital.  The seminar held on Saturday 18th May 2024  was fully supported by General Pharmaceuticals Limited.



 

 

In this seminar, its President and Professor of Endocrinology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr. Md Farid Uddin and its President and former Chairman of Cardiology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Professor Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman graced the seats of the chief guests.

Topics discussed at the event, titled ‘Hypertension a silent killer’ included ‘National Guidelines of Updated Management of Hypertension’ and ‘Hypertension Management  ​​Endocrinologist’s Perspective’. Dr. Vijay Dutta, Associate Professor, NICVD and Dr. Sharmin Jahan, Associate Professor, BSMMU presented various aspects of modern hypertension treatment in the meeting.

Renowned cardiac and endocrine experts of Bangladesh also participated in the discussion. Professor Mohammad Abdul Jalil Ansari, Professor Brig General Md Sarwar Khan, Professor Indrajit Prasad, Professor Khaled Mohsin, Professor Abdul Wadud Chowdhury and Professor Md Zilur Rahman.

Professor Md. Farid Uddin, Founder Chairman of Endocrinology Department of BSMMU gave a special speech in the seminar. In his speech, he outlined the modernization of hypertension treatment, progression of cardiovascular disease and monitoring of endocrine factors in Bangladesh. Prof. Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Head of Department, Department of Endocrinology, Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital addressed the seminar. Md. Akhtar Iqbal, National Sales Manager, General Pharmaceuticals, in his welcome address, congratulated all those present at the meeting and highlighted General Pharmaceuticals’ 40 years of contribution to the health sector. He also said that General Pharmaceuticals is always determined to protect the quality of medicines.

Doctors from Cardiac and Endocrinology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Mugda Medical and NICVD were present on the occasion.
