  • University of London newsletter recognises adoption of cutting edge peer to peer technology

The Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) Sri Lanka was recently recognized in the July 2020 global edition of the London School of Economics and Political Science’s (LSE) Economics, Management, Finance, and the Social Sciences (EMFSS) community newsletter for its recent collaboration with the Sri Lankan-based educational technology start-up, UNIVISER – a digital platform connecting prospective students and parents with current student ambassadors.

In its widely read EMFSS London newsletter (which is distributed to all University of London (UoL) centers worldwide), the piece recognized RIC Sri Lanka’s successful pilot of the online platform that resulted in an increase in prospective student engagement and enrolment. The collaborative move was hailed as, “A great example of how technological solutions can connect us in a time when traditional recruitment methods are more difficult.”

As industries worldwide pivot to respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic, RIC Sri Lanka has been internationally highlighted as an example of an institute at the forefront of adopting industry best practices by opting to use innovative peer to peer technology to connect with their future students virtually. For more information on the collaboration, access the full case study online at www.univiser.io

As a pioneer in the education industry in Sri Lanka, for more than 40 years we have been committed to helping students through innovation. RIC being recognised by the University of London is a testament to this commitment. We are pleased to partner with UNIVISER to help new students by alleviating the daunting process of transitioning from school to university by using our own Student Buddies as a welcoming resource. This has been especially useful as a workaround to the physical restrictions currently in place during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Academic Director – RIC, Dr. Nirodha Bandara stated.
