The youth led community service movement, Rotaract Club of Kelaniya launched the first ever ‘Rotaract Sports Magazine’ in Sri Lanka on May 31, 2022 at the Royal Skills Centre, Colombo 7. Rotaract Club of Kelaniya (RACK) in support of Project ‘Game On.’ As a form of recreation and comfort during difficult times, RACK launched ‘Game On,’ allowing Rotaracters and Sri Lankans to experience the thrill of sports.

The magazine was launched with the presence of the Immediate Past District Rotaract Representative, Rtn. Rtr. Past President Kavindra Kasun Sigera, District Rotaract Chair Rtn. Past President Paul Harris Fellow, Marshad Barry, District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Rtr. Past President Akhila Wijethunga, District Rotaract Representative Nominee, Rtr. Past President Sathma Jayasighe, President of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya, Rtn. Rtr. Rashmika Silva and the fellow rotaractors of the Rotaract Club of Kelaniya.

Initiated in 2016 the project has evolved to be a national sensation with the support of Rotaractors and the public throughout the years. It is now a sports series with a combination of many sports and a variety of phases. The team says that the team worked diligently to get ‘Game On’ to where it is today under the guidance of Rtn. Rtr. Rashmika Silva. “However, this couldn’t be achieved alone; Rotaract Club of Kelaniya is indebted to the District Steering Committee for the endless and unwavering support through obstacles and peaks as well as to the team who helped and contributed throughout the project”, added the Rotaract Club of Kelaniya.

The club was able to help those who were under a great deal of stress as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis by providing a platform for people to physically bond, play some of their favourite sports, and most importantly, improve their physical and mental well-being, which was one of the project’s goals. The team says; that they will never forget the immense positive feedback they received throughout each phase of the project on how it helped people in a variety of ways during the difficult and tumultuous times. This, according to RAC Kelaniya, is what defines the project’s success because it allows individuals to grow and improve as a result of it.
