From February 14 to 23, 2025, guests will be able to indulge in an exceptional culinary journey, showcasing the skills of the renowned Sichuanese Master Chef Benson Peng, Head Chef of Sichuanese Cuisine at Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu.
Famous for his expertise in balancing intense spices with refined techniques, Chef Peng won the gold medal at the National Sichuan Cuisine Skills Competition in 2002 and was named “Famous Cooking Master in Sichuan”. With decades of experience in perfecting Sichuanese flavors, he has crafted a specially curated menu that highlights the rich and diverse offerings of Sichuan gastronomy.
During this exclusive event, guests will have the opportunity to savor Chef Peng’s signature dishes, each a masterful representation of the authentic, bold flavors that define Sichuan cuisine.
Among the highlights is the simmered mandarin fish with vegetables and mushrooms in spicy chili oil, a dish that exemplifies the art of balancing the heat of chili oil with the delicate textures of fresh fish, seasonal vegetables and earthy mushrooms.
Another standout is the chicken soup with tofu pudding, a comforting, aromatic dish where tender chicken is served in a rich, flavorful broth with silky tofu pudding, bringing together warmth and depth of flavor in every spoonful.
Chef Peng’s meticulously crafted menu goes beyond these signature dishes to feature a range of other exquisite Sichuan delicacies. Using only premium, locally sourced ingredients, each dish showcases the refined techniques and exceptional artistry that Chef Peng is known for.
The Sichuan Cuisine Promotion at Shang Palace will be available from 14 to 23 February 2025, offering guests a chance to indulge in authentic Sichuan flavors in the heart of Colombo. Guests can enjoy this extraordinary dining experience during lunch from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM and dinner from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
