P&S Golden Doily Culinary Competition Unites Teams and Celebrates Talent

Perera & Sons Bakers (Private) Limited (P&S), Sri Lanka’s largest quick-service restaurant chain, hosted its highly anticipated Inter department Golden Doily Culinary Art Competition. This event, held at Birds Park in Rajagiriya, served as a dynamic platform for the company’s diverse teams to showcase their culinary skills, creativity, and teamwork in a friendly but competitive environment.

 



 

The competition featured 27 teams with 208 participants, competing in 15 categories. The teams, representing various branches and departments of P&S, put forth their best efforts to create culinary masterpieces. The entries were judged on several key criteria, including taste and flavor, visual appeal, creativity and originality, adherence to the theme or category, execution and technique, use of ingredients, and overall impression.

The event was graced by esteemed panel of judges,  Executive Chef Kalpa Perera and Pastry Chef Mohan Amith, Executive Sous Chef Erick Wijemanne, Ms Nanditha Gamage, Ms Nadhi Dharmasena, Mr Chanuka Piyarisi, Dr Hirudhi Bandara, and Mr Janith Fernando.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Mr. Gihan Perera, Managing Director of Perera & Sons Bakers (Private) Limited, remarked, “The Golden Doily Culinary Art Competition is a celebration of the incredible talent and creativity within our company. It’s not just about winning medals but about pushing boundaries, exploring new culinary horizons, and working together as one united team. This competition plays a crucial role in developing skills, fostering innovation, and encouraging career advancement among our staff. It also provides a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and learning, while promoting a healthy spirit of competition.”

The event culminated in an awards ceremony where the Catering Kitchen team emerged as the overall champions, securing the coveted gold medal. The Matara team followed closely with a silver medal, while the Main Kitchen and QA team proudly took home the bronze.
