June 28, 2021: Affirming its deep commitment to empower communities in the country, Sri Lanka’s leading real estate developer Prime Group recently launched the powerful, company-wide ‘Ek Dawasak Sith Dahasak’ initiative to uplift financially challenged families residing in the Colombo District’s Moratuwa region, with a generous donation of essentials. Ek Dawasak Sith Dahasak is a cause supported by Prime Group’s employees and management as an act of compassion, solidarity and generosity to support several communities as the pandemic continues to rage across the island.
The initiative was able to supply essentials to over 320 families resident in the Tsunami flats, Moratuwa. The token handover of the food hampers took place on the 23rd of June under strict health and safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, in the presence of Colombo District Secretary – Pradeep Yasaratne, Moratuwa Divisional Secretary – Isanka Udawatte, Uyana South Grama Niladhari – H. R. M. Priyanjith, Assistant Director, Colombo District Disaster Management Coordinating Unit Wing Commander Mahesh Gunaratne, along with several members of the Prime Group Executive committee, conducted.
“Hundreds of thousands of daily wage earners across Sri Lanka have now been left with absolutely no source of income and are struggling to procure even basic needs like food for themselves and their families. With the pandemic in full force, the entire team at Prime Group came together with compassion and solidarity to provide immediate relief to some of the most vulnerable children and families with much needed essentials. As a responsible corporate citizen with a sound vision to make a better place on earth, our team considers it our duty to do so. Ek Dawasak Sith Dahasak was forged upon this ethos, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my team for their selfless generosity at this time,” stated Prime Group Chairman, Premalal Brahmanage.
This is first initiative of the three-part Ek Dawasak Sith Dahasak campaign, which takes a well-researched, approach by identifying different target groups that are most in need of support across Sri Lanka. The powerful campaign is conducted in coalition with the Disaster Management Division and Divisional Secretary.
Prime Group’s donation comes at a time when the country struggles to battle the malicious third wave, resulting in rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases and deaths. This is one among the company’s many initiatives to support both the public and further empower Sri Lanka’s frontline defenses as the country comes together to bring the pandemic to a close.
