Press Conference held for 3-day Youth Festival at Dhaka University

With the aim of building a new Bangladesh, the 3-day ‘Youth Festival’ with the theme ‘Come and change the country, change the world’ is starting at the central playground of Dhaka University on Tuesday, 11 February 2025. Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, will inaugurate the festival as the chief guest at the central playground on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 at 11 am. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan will preside over the inaugural ceremony.

 



 

The overall preparations for the youth festival were highlighted at a press conference organized at the meeting room of the Dhaka University Alumni Association on Monday, 10 February 2025. Convener of the festival celebration committee, Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain, Acting Director of the Dhaka University Public Relations Office, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Acting Estate Manager Mrs. Fatema Binte Mustafa, and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, Mohammad Saiful Islam were present at the press conference.

It was informed in the press conference that a nationwide youth festival is being celebrated with the aim of eliminating unemployment and creating employment in the country by creating young entrepreneurs. As part of this, this festival has been organized at Dhaka University. The festival program includes: inauguration on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11 am, painting competition at 12 noon and inspection of stalls of young entrepreneurs, clean campaign at 12:15 pm, debate competition at 2 pm, song, dance and poetry at 6:30 pm, folk songs (Lalangiti, Hason Rajar songs), band music at 7:30 pm, Nakshi Kantha (Sazed Fatemi).

On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, the men’s event will be held at 11:00 am, chess at 11:10 am, cockfighting at 11:30 am, balloon blowing at 12:00 pm, seven-legged race at 12:15 pm and rope pulling at 2:30 pm. The women’s event will be held at 11:00 am, bone breaking at 11:10 am, chess at 11:30 am, bouchi at 11:30 pm, skipping at 12:00 pm, ball throwing in a basket at 12:30 pm, musical pillow passing at 2:30 pm. In addition, a preeti football match will be held at 4 pm. At 6:30 pm, a song, dance and poetry recital with the participation of the Dhaka University Cultural Team, Gambhira (Chapai Nawabganj) at 7:20 pm and folk songs (Lalangiti, Hason Rajar Gaan, Chandana Majumdar) at 8:30 pm.

Case competition on Thursday, 13 February 2025 at 11 am, prize distribution at 3:45 pm, band music with the participation of the popular band Artcell at 6:30 pm, and band music with the participation of the popular band Nagar Baul (James) at 8:30 pm
