Oranges combined with black and beige to bring out the beauty of nature won young Pramodi Jayawardana the coveted crown of “Designer of the Year” at the recently concluded Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer Contest 2018 in association with LiCC. The grand finale featuring 15 finalists was held recently at SLECC.
A student of the Raffles Institute Pramodi battled it out with 12 other young girls and 2 boys who designed a casual, sports and evening wear collection for real life mothers and daughters. She also walked away with an air ticket to Singapore from You Travels, an overnight stay at Amagi Aria Negambo by Pulse, a portfolio package worth 100,000 rupees from Revport, a 300,000 rupee scholarship from AACS, a 100,000 rupee PR package from Nehemiah Consultants and gifts from LiCC, Avene, Sothys and Ponds.
The Chokolaate LiCC Mother Daughter Fashion Designer Contest organized by Sri Lanka’s premier teen magazine Chokolaate was held for the 9th consecutive year and is the brain child of the magazine’s Managing Editor Michelle Gunasekara.
Speaking at the finale she said, “The Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer Contest was birthed as a tribute to mothers and has become one of the most sought after events in the last 9 years. This year the response was phenomenal and I must thank the design schools who collaborated with us to take the talent levels of the participants to another level. LiCC were a wonderful title sponsor giving us tremendous support. I would also like to thank our other sponsors and partners who have been with us for many years. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary next year, we are looking forward to a much grander show”.
Mother-daughter duo Surangika and Suzan won the “Best Mother-Daughter Models” award of the night. The judges for the night included entrepreneur and philanthropist Otara Gunawardene, founder of Cotton Collection Niloufer Anverally, innovative designer and founder of “Meraki” Sharmila Ruberu, Founder and CEO of “Radisi” Rajini De Silva and former Miss.Sri Lanka Danielle Kerkoven.
