People's Leasing excels at the Masters Athletics 2nd (Open) Championship - 2022 (LBN)

 



 

 

Masters Athletes from People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (People’s Leasing) performed commendably at the 2nd Annual Masters Open Athletics Championship – 2022 held on 23 and 24 October 2022 at the District Sports Complex Kotawila, Matara. The Championship was organised by the Sri Lanka Southern Masters Athletics Association. Masters Athletes representing Institutions from financial, non-bank financial, private, and state sectors participated in the two day event.

Fifteen Masters Athletes from People’s Leasing participated in the Championship. People’s Leasing secured the 05th position in the “Best 10 Companies” Category. In total, Masters Athletes from People’s Leasing were awarded 5 Gold medals and 5 Silver medals in addition to 4 Bronze medals bagged.

Govinda Sadeepa of People’s Leasing won triple Gold medals in javelin throw, shot put, and discus throw events in the Open Men’s Category and he was also recognised as the Champion in Men’s Open Category.

Vajira Ramanayake of People’s Leasing bagged the Gold medal in 45+ age category Men’s 110 meters hurdles. Sherman Fernando clinched both the Gold medal and Silver medal in 35+ age category Men’s 110 meters hurdles and Men’s 400 meters respectively while Samantha Senevirathna secured the Silver medal and Bronze medal in 50+ age category in Men’s 800 meters and 400 meters respectively.

Kandula Jayasundara won the Silver medal in 400 meters Open Men’s Category while Sandaru Chamika won the Bronze medal. Nadun Silva won the Silver medal in the Open Men’s 100 meters. He also won the Bronze medal in the Open Men’s 200 meters. Silver and Bronze medals were won by Sampath Prasanga and  Ujith Wasantha in the Men’s hammer throw in 50+ and 45+ age categories.
