People’s Leasing contributes the proper waste management at the Sigiriya World Heritage Site.

 



 

 

 

People’s Leasing and Finance PLC provide their contribution for the installation of the waste segregation bins in Sigiriya Rock Fortress in Dambulla on a need identified under the guidance of the Central Cultural Fund in collaboration with Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha and MOH Office- Dambulla as one of their Environmental Conservation responsibility initiative. The project was initiated in accordance with a concept by Mr. Shamindra Marcelline – Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Leasing Company. The Primary objective of this initiative is to create a proper waste disposal system to preserve our country’s ancient world heritage sites as well assisting in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The established waste bins with the awareness boards were handed over to the general public by Mr.Susil Priyantha – Assistant Regional Manager of People’s Leasing & Finance PLC, Mr.Upul Nishantha – Project Manager of Sigiriya project in Central Cultural Fund in Dambulla, Mr.Dhanuka Udayanaga – Assistant Director, Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Mr.Senevirathne-Secretary of Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Dr.Dayantha Weerasekara – Medical Officer of Health, Dambulla and Mr.Wasantha Kumara – Public Health Inspector, Dambulla recently. Mr. Hishan Welmilla, Manager – Marketing, Communication and Sustainability of People’s Leasing and   Mr. Chathuranga Nagodavithana, Branch Manager of People’s Leasing Dambulla Branch, Mr.A.I Ahamed from Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr.Sajith Wijesooriya from Central Cultural Fund and other representatives from People’s Leasing Dambulla Branch were also presented at this event.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Waste Management involves the regular collection, transportation, processing, disposal or recycling and monitoring of different types of waste materials. Through proper management of the waste segregation, we can save a considerable amount of money and prevent the environment from being harmed.

Sigiriya is also known as the Lion’s Rock is a rock fortress, ancient palace and fort complex located in Dambulla, attracts thousands of local and foreign visitors every year.Sigiriya is a UNESCO listed world heritage site due to its universal value expressed through ancient architecture, historical value, art, town planning, hydraulic technology and also cultural landscape features.
