Pears’ Range of Soaps and Creams Are Now Pediatrician Tested

Donates Rs. 8 million worth of Pears products to 42 hospitals across Sri Lanka ~

Colombo, March 28th 2022: Staying true to its purpose of ensuring that every Sri Lankan baby has access to pediatrician tested care, Unilever’s flagship baby care brand – Pears has announced that its core range of soaps and creams are now tested by international pediatricians.

The brand reaffirmed this commitment by deploying an engagement campaign with 42 hospitals (with pediatric wards) across the country on the first day of its launch. The event capped off with a donation of Rs. 8 million worth of Pears products to the said hospitals, to be used on newborns.

The occasion was graced by Madam Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa, Spouse of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, First Lady of Sri Lanka (2005 – 2015) and Child Psychologist; Hajar Alafifi, Chairperson and Managing Director of Unilever Sri Lanka; Nilushi Jayatileke, Marketing Director – Beauty and Personal Care and Head of Corporate Communications of Unilever Sri Lanka; and other company officials.

Commenting on the announcement regarding its core range of Pears products, Nilushi JayatilekeMarketing Director – Beauty and Personal Care and Head of Corporate Communications of Unilever Sri Lanka said, “Pears has been a trusted name in baby care in Sri Lanka for over 60 years and has become a leading choice for Sri Lankan mothers today. We believe that every baby’s skin should be cared for with the sensitivity and delicacy that it deserves, with the highest level of safety and assurance. That is why we’re ensuring that our core products are tested by international pediatricians, offering only the best when it comes to Pears.”  

Throughout the years, Pears has invested over Rs. 60 million on various initiatives with the aim of giving back to the community. One such initiative is its safe hands project which, was implemented in 2002 to renovate and refurbish maternity wards all over the island and revitalize the maternal care that is provided to babies across Sri Lanka. This has gone a long way towards proving that Pears always has every baby’s best interest at heart.
