Is there a demand in the African Market for PET Bottles?
There is indeed a demand for PET bottles in the African market. According to a report by Allied Market Research, the African PET bottle market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Factors driving this growth include a rising population, urbanization, and increasing consumer demand for packaged beverages and personal care products. Additionally, the shift towards more sustainable packaging solutions has also led to an increased demand for PET bottles in Africa. For a better ecosystem, the need for better enlightenment and awareness about waste PET packaging materials cannot be over-emphasized (Elehinafe et al., 2021). Sources, footprints, adverse effects and management of these wastes require the appropriate education. Coordinated efforts from industry are needed to disseminate information about the chemicals used in producing PET packaging materials, together with public training about the raw chemicals.
