Orion City launches EV charging facility with 120 kW fast chargers, supporting sustainability and convenience

Orion City, the nation’s premier IT and BPO business park, is launching a cutting-edge Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facility on January 1st, 2025. This new addition features 120 kW ultra-fast chargers and slower charging options, this latest addition strengthens Orion City’s commitment to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, addressing the rising need for robust EV infrastructure in Sri Lanka.

 



 
The charging station will provide a 120 kW ultra-fast CCS2 port for European EV models and a fast charger 62.5 kW CHAdeMO port for Japanese car models. Additionally, two 11 kW Type 2 chargers will serve all EV models ensuring compatibility across EV types.

Located within the LEED-certified Orion City complex—where Orion Tower I holds a LEED Gold certification and the Anton Building is LEED Silver-certified—this facility reflects Orion City’s ongoing dedication to green building practices and energy efficiency. Open to both Orion City tenants and all EV owners in Sri Lanka, the charging station offers a fast and accessible solution for eco-conscious drivers. Orion City is home to over 85 local and international IT/BPO companies, including Virtusa, IFS, Michelin, WNS Global, Anton, and Atlas Axillia, with a workforce of over 10,000 professionals contributing significantly to the Sri Lankan economy.

Conveniently positioned near key amenities within Orion City—such as Barista Coffee Shop, Pizza Hut, Banks, Cargills Food City, Orion City Food Court, and Orion City Hotel—the EV charging station allows users to charge their vehicles while enjoying a variety of services. Orion City tenants also benefit from the convenience of charging their EVs during work hours, further promoting sustainability within the workplace.
