One Won, a cause-based exhibit by 40 Sri Lankan Artists to Celebrate Colombo

A voluntary representation by artists on behalf of one of the four industries to profile Colombo

Colombo Fashion Week brings together four creative industries namely Art, Fashion, Food and Music to host a week-long creative festival titled “Celebrate Colombo” presented by So Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Tourism and Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). The festival will feature a meaningful art exhibit titled “One Won”, bringing together an unprecedented 40 Sri Lankan artists to collaborate on a never-before-seen project which embodies the spirit of Sri Lanka. The cause-based exhibit will launch at the The Stables at Park Street Mews on August 6th and run for a week.

The exhibit is a uniquely put-together work of art from 40 Sri Lankan artists who have collaborated to showcase themes of unity, diversity, peace and harmony. For the first time, 40 artists have come forward voluntarily to demonstrate a united Sri Lanka. The exhibit was conceived to raise funds for a cause and through their selected charity World Vision Lanka, the artists will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to support the Physiotherapy Unit of the Batticaloa Base Hospital where those injured in the explosion on April 21st, 2019 continue to receive treatment.

The group of 40 Sri Lankan artists come from various backgrounds, from a myriad of faiths and regions across the island. Through this meaningful expression of art, these artists join hands to demonstrate that through unity and oneness we can win as a people and a nation.

The acclaimed artists participating in the exhibit are as follows – Anoma Wijewardene, Anura Krishantha, Anuradha Henakaarachchi, Anusha Gajaweera, Bandu Manamperi, Buddhika Nakandala , Catharina Danial, Chamila Gamage, Chaminda Gamage ,Chathurika Jayani, Danushka Marasinghe, Dr. Manoranjana Herath, Dumith Kulasekara, Gamunu Vithanage, Gayan Prageeth, Godwin Roger Constantine, Jagath Ravindra, Janani Cooray, Kingsley Gunatillake, Kirushan Sivananam, Koralegedara Pushpakumara, Lakisha Fernando, Lalith Manage, Liz Fernando, Mahen Perera, Pakkiyarajah Rupaneethan, Pala Pothupitiye, Pradeep Chandrasiri, Sanjaya Geekiyanage, Sanjeewa Kumara, Sarath Gunasiri Perera, Sathsara Ilangasinghe, Shaanea Mendis D’Silva, Sivasubramaniam Kajendran, Sudath Abeysekara, Sujeewa Kumari Weerasinghe, Sujith Rathnayake, Thisath Thoradeniya, Vajira Gunawardena, and Wasantha Rathnayake.

World Vision is a relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision has been in Sri Lanka since 1977 and currently serves in 34 locations in 15 Districts across the country through long-term development programmes, impacting nearly 200,000 children and their families.

The One Won art exhibit has been curated in partnership with the Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Visual and Performing Arts.
