Sri Lanka, February 18, 2025 – Uber Eats, Sri Lanka’s most loved delivery app for ordering food, groceries, and more, is now delivering in Matara, Weligama, and Mirissa. This expansion further strengthens Uber Eats’ footprint in Sri Lanka’s Southern Coast after the company added Koggala, Talpe, and Ahangama to its service regions in December last year. Uber Eats had earlier expanded its services to Galle in 2023.
The Southern Coast has emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s most vibrant regions, attracting both locals and tourists with its pristine beaches, rich culture, and bustling commercial hubs. Beyond its appeal to visitors, it is home to a thriving local community that enjoys fresh seafood, traditional delicacies like ambul thiyal (sour fish curry), and everyday essentials from the local pola (market).
With Uber Eats, residents can now conveniently discover and support their favorite local eateries, order meals for their families, and even get groceries delivered straight to their doorstep. Whether it’s a quick lunch from a beloved street food vendor, a seafood feast at home, or fresh ingredients for home cooking, Uber Eats brings the best of the Southern Coast right to the community.
Varun Wijewardane, Country Manager, Uber Delivery – Sri Lanka, said, “Uber Eats is committed to making quality food and everyday essentials more accessible, and our expansion into Matara, Weligama, and Mirissa marks an exciting step in serving more communities along Sri Lanka’s southern coast. This expansion not only makes on demand food and groceries accessible for customers but also opens up new earning opportunities for delivery partners and helps small businesses reach a wider customer base. We’re excited to support local entrepreneurs while enhancing the way Sri Lankans experience delivery.”
Uber Eats is now available in Galle, Unawatuna, Koggala, Talpe, Ahangama, Matara, Weligama, and Mirissa, solidifying its position as Sri Lanka’s go-to delivery platform connecting locals and tourists with the best that the South Coast has to offer.
