Nawaloka clinches prestigious NDB Trophy after stellar performance in Premier C Division Tournament

Displaying true sportsmanship and led by veteran Samith Ruberu, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC emerged victorious at the finals of the Mercentile Premier C Division 50 Over League Tournament played against LOLC Holdings PLC, on 29 September (Sunday).
 



 

In a grueling match fought valiantly against its rivals, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC won the toss to bat first and recorded 265/8 for 50 overs in its initial round of batting. Key performers of the match included Thiwanka Kekulawala, who anchored the innings with a composed 62 from 87 balls, featuring five boundaries and a six. Samila Nadeesh delivered a powerful knock, scoring 51 off just 37 deliveries, which included three fours and three sixes. Raveen Sayer provided crucial support with a well-paced 44 from 46 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. In the bowling attack, Sidath Mallawaarchchi was instrumental, claiming 3 wickets for 46 runs, effectively curbing the opposition’s momentum.

In response, LOLC Holdings PLC struggled, being bowled out for just 75 runs. Sampath Nissanka led the charge with an impressive 4 wickets for 28 runs, while Thiwanka Kekulawala  acquired 3 wickets for 17 runs. Chanaka Devinda also made a significant impact, taking 2 wickets for 20 runs, completing a dominant bowling performance.

Accordingly, Nawaloka had a resounding victory at the Mercantile Premier C Division Championship led by Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Team Captain Samith Ruberu and was awarded the coveted NDB Trophy. Representing Nawaloka Holdings PLC, Thiwanka Kekulawala bagged titles as the Player of the Tournament and Player of the Final, while Thaveesha Abishek claimed the title of Best Batsman for their outstanding sportsmanship.
