Colombo June 29th, 2022: In a bid to enhance patient access to high-quality, affordable healthcare within Sri Lanka, the country’s fastest-growing primary care chain Medihelp Hospitals, continues to expand its geographical reach and scope of services despite the current volatile macroeconomic climate. Stepping into its 37th year of operations, Medihelp offers a comprehensive portfolio of healthcare services via a well-spread chain of easily accessible primary care facilities and diagnostic labs while also providing access to the medical expertise of a large collective of top medical practitioners and specialists.

From its humble beginnings in Kalutara District as a diagnostic lab, Medihelp has since expanded its footprint to the Colombo District and plans to further extend its reach to Gampaha district this year. Just recently, the chain added yet another top-tier primary care facility to its network, in Nugegoda. During its years of operation, Medihelp experienced a swift growth curve, underpinned by a passionate vision to give patients in Sri Lanka access to the treatment that they need in comfortable settings.

Speaking about the expansion, Executive Director of Medihelp Hospitals, Chandika Wijesiriwardana stated “For over three decades Medihelp has worked towards a singular vision of making high-quality healthcare easily accessible to the common man. Today, Medihelp Hospitals has made its services available in 15 towns in the Western province offering much-needed primary healthcare services. Despite current challenges in sourcing medical equipment, consumables, medicine, tighter regulatory constraints, rising construction costs, logistical limitations, and record rate of inflation, we are committed to expanding our footprint and plan to add three more locations to the network by the end of the year.

Over the years, Medihelp has grown to become a number one choice among patients due to the personalised nature of its offering, its top-tier customer care as well as for its spacious, modern facilities enabling patients to easily access a specialist consultant network of 250 consultants without having to travel to Colombo. Patients can access specialist consultants from a wide range of specialties including general medicine, endocrinology and diabetes, gynaecology and obstetrics, oncology, ENT, cardiology, general surgery, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology, orthopedics, pediatrics, vascular surgery, sexual medicine, gastroenterology, urology, dermatology and cosmetic care, nephrology and ophthalmology.

Medihelp also integrates numerous digital tools into its portfolio for the convenience of its patients. They currently offer a Live Tracking Facility to enable patients to track the progress of their appointments to ensure that they do not waste time at the hospital, needlessly waiting for their consultant. Further, its purpose-built facilities include ample parking, spacious lobbies with comfortable seating areas and options to book appointments over the phone, which are all facilities equivalent to or better than other city-centric hospitals.

Medihelp’s medical facility network offers a comprehensive mix of healthcare services under one roof, including Channeling facilities for Specialist consultations, OPD consultations, Emergency Treatment Units, medical diagnostic laboratories, pharmacies, medical imaging units with Ultrasound Scanning, Echocardiography and Digital X-Ray, operating theatres for minor surgical procedures, dental Clinics and Optometry services. The chain’s facilities are located in Horana, Nugegoda, Piliyandala, Moratuwa, Homagama, Kalutara, Panadura, Beruwala, Mathugama, Bandaragama, Ingiriya, Bulathsinhala, Wethara and Kesbewa.
