The ‘Lakshmi Kumari International Sugar Studio’ by Lakshmi Kumari, a renowned personality in Sri Lanka specialised in sugar flowers and cake decorations, was awarded as the best cake decorating academy of the year at the Lanka Business Awards-2023 organised by the Business World International Organisation (BWIO). The award ceremony was recently held at the Crystal Ballroom at Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, and the Institute’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lakshmi Kumari received the award. Founded as an advanced version of Angel Home Made Food Institute, the Institute has now expanded its course programmes to Battharamulla, Matara, Kandy, Ratnapura, Negombo, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Boralesgamuwa and Horana.
It has introduced a wide range of study programmes in three categories named Advanced, Master and Basic. The programmes include those in cake decoration and sugar flowers, modern wedding cake structures, American buttercream and chocolate palette, butter cream painting by brush, chocolate 3D flowers, royal icing techniques as well as Wilton courses. The Institute’s Founder, Lakshmi Kumari, who has more than 10 years of experience in cake making and decorating, holds the highest qualifications that someone could obtain in Sri Lanka in her field, the National Vocational Qualification/ Level Four, the International Wilton method instructor certificate.
