KAP Empowers Future Generations through ‘Shilpabhisheka’ Program in Sri Lanka’s Coconut Triangle

Colombo, Sri Lanka, October 2023 – YARA Foods, a subsidiary of Kandetiya Agro Products (KAP), Sri Lanka’s number one exporter of coconut cream continues its commitment to the community with the launch of the “Shilpabhisheka” Program. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is designed to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural areas, focusing on underprivileged schools in the Coconut Triangle region of Sri Lanka.

The “Shilpabhisheka” Program targets students in grades 6-11, providing them with valuable mentoring and motivation for a brighter educational future. Spearheaded by Mr. Mohan Palliyaguru, the program was conducted under the theme of “Education for a Better Tomorrow.” The session culminated in the awarding of scholarships to top-performing students based on their Grade 05 scholarship exam and previous end-term examination results.

KAP’s dedication to “natural and healthy living” extends beyond its product offerings. As a Sedex, Fairtrade, and Fair for Life certified company, KAP prioritizes the well-being of farmers, the community, and the environment. The “Shilpabhisheka” Program stands as a testament to their ongoing efforts to give back to all stakeholders in the industry.

Speaking with CEO, Kandetiya Agro Products (Pvt) Ltd – Shimzar Ajeez expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, “Shilpabhisheka is a CSR program dedicated to bridging the educational divide between urban and rural communities. At KAP, we believe in empowering future generations through education. The workshop with Mr. Mohan Palliyaguru was an immense success, and after hearing the feedback from students and teachers, we feel confident that we’re heading the right way.”

In addition to “Shilpabhisheka,” KAP has launched “A Tree for Life,” a reforestation project, emphasising the company’s commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly business practices.

Concluding, the Zonal Educational Director, Giriulla Educational Zone – S. A. P. S. Jayamaha, stated: “We express our sincere appreciation to KAP for orchestrating this highly beneficial event for our students, who may face additional challenges compared to their counterparts in urban schools. The Shilpabhisheka program stands out as a distinctive initiative, meticulously organized and strategically aligned with broader educational objectives, ultimately contributing to the holistic development of our students for the future.”
