SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies), recently welcomed Mr. Jehan Perinpanayagam as their new Chairman for the year 2023/ 2024.
With an impressive career spanning 26 years, including 16 years at the C suite-level, Jehan brings in a wealth of industry experience. He has achieved many trailblazing milestones, including playing a pioneering role in establishing the first shared services in Sri Lanka, introducing the country’s initial rural BPMs, and leading various other industry “firsts.” His visionary mindset, quiet determination, and genuine passion for the country have firmly positioned him as a prominent thought leader in his field.
Excelling in leading large teams and spearheading transformational projects, Jehan is renowned for his track record of success in driving change and innovation that has earned him a reputation as a purpose-driven leader. Firmly believing in the power of business as a force for good, he has consistently created a positive impact both within the industry and the broader community.
Jehan’s outstanding achievements have been recognized through several accolades, that include the Chairman’s Award for CSR from John Keells and the CMA National Business Excellence award.
In his current role as the CEO of Infomate Pvt Limited, Jehan leads the company’s overall operations and strategic direction. Under his leadership, Infomate Pvt Limited has achieved significant growth and success, solidifying its position as a leading player in the industry. Jehan also holds the position as the Senior Vice President of John Keells Holdings (JKH).
Furthermore, he holds several other leadership positions as the Chairman of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and President of the Sri Lanka Nordic Business Council.
Commenting on his appointment, Jehan expressed “I am honored to assume the role as the Chairman at SLASSCOM and to build on the outstanding effort and commitment of former Chairs and champions of the industry. SLASSCOM plays a pivotal role in shaping Sri Lanka’s IT/ BPM industry, and I am excited to lead this fantastic organisation and work with some of the most talented and passionate professionals who make up the IT / BPM workforce. Together with the board, the general council, the many volunteers and the corporate office, I am committed to working with industry and our partners so that Sri Lanka achieves its full potential as the island of ingenuity, thereby creating employment opportunities, and driving economic growth for our nation.”
Outlining his plans to further elevate the industry’s prominence on the global stage, Jehan stated that during his tenure as Chairman he will focus on strengthening the IOI (Island of Ingenuity) branding initiative and aims to consolidate partnerships with renowned global companies to project Sri Lanka as an ideal destination for IT/BPM services.
Building on SLASSCOM’s ongoing initiatives in talent development, Jehan plans to tap into regional talent pools beyond the western province, harnessing the untapped potential of these regions, to nurture a diverse and skilled workforce, ensuring sustained growth and industry resilience.
Jehan’s vision also includes green technology initiatives. Recognizing its significant global potential, he believes that Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM industry can play a crucial role in sustainable development and tackle pressing global challenges. Other key priorities encompass Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations, with a focus on promoting ESG practices among SLASSCOM members, with the objective to establish Sri Lanka as the world’s leading green IT/BPM destination. This commitment aligns with the vision for a green economy set by His Excellency the President, ensuring the industry’s long-term sustainability.
Moreover, Jehan intends to cultivate a cohesive community among SLASSCOM members, providing ample networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities while contributing to the President’s vision of building a digitally modern Sri Lanka.
