Issue of Commemorative Coins to Mark the 65th Anniversary of Sri Lanka – China Diplomatic Relations and 100th Anniversary of Communist Party of China
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued gold and silver commemorative coins of Rupees 1,000, each with same depiction, to mark 65th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the People’s Republic of China and the 100th Anniversary of Communist Party of China. The coins have been issued at the request of the Government of Sri Lanka as an accolade for long-standing friendship and mutual trust between the two countries.
The front view of the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre depicts at the center of the coin with national flags of Sri Lanka and China. The year “2022” is depicted below the Theatre in large numerals. The words “Sri Lanka-China 65 Years” in English, Sinhala and Tamil appears along the periphery.
The words “Communist Party of China” in Sinhala, Tamil and English and the years 1921-2021 with Anniversary year 100 with the face value “1000” in large numerals appears at the middle of the coin. The words “Sri Lanka” in English, Sinhala, and Tamil appears along the periphery on the upper edge of the coin. The words “Rupees” in Sinhala, Tamil and English are indicated at the bottom edge of the coin.
Each coin is issued in an attractive presentation case with a certificate of authenticity. This limited issue of Gold coins will be sold at the price stated above through pre order from the Currency Department only through the CBSL sales counter at the Economic History Museum (EHM), Central Point Building, No. 54, Chatham Street, Colombo 01 with effect from 12.07.2021. Further, the Silver coin will also be sold at the price stated above through EHM sales counter with effect from 12.07.2021.
