International Seminar on ‘Towards a Sociology of Development: Some Initial Thoughts and Reflections’ held in Dhaka

An International Seminar was held on Sunday 27 October 2024 titled ‘Towards a Sociology of Development: Some Initial Thoughts and Reflections’ jointly organized by the Department of Sociology, Research and Publication Cell, and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dhaka International University at the auditorium of DIU.

 



 

Md Saidul Islam, PhD, Associate Professor and Post-Graduate, Coordinator of Sociology, Elected Member of the Senate, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore & Former Visiting Professor, MIT led the session as a keynote speaker. Besides, Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain, Treasurer, SUST and Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of English, DIU were there as special guests.
Mr. Jamsedur Rahman, Assistant Professor & Chairman, Department of Sociology, Dhaka International University inaugurated the seminar with his opening speech.
Professor Tahmina Khan, Associate Professor Tanjila Shabnam, Assistant Professor Dr. Shamim Hamide and all other faculty members of sociology department were also present at the delightful program. Bushra Islam, Lecturer, Sociology Department anchored the whole event nicely.
More than 160 students of the department were present in the innovative program. Exploring new insights on social issues among the young generation were the aim and objective of the session.
