The leading cement manufacturer in the country, INSEE Cement Sri Lanka signed a landmark agreement with the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) to purchase dolomite, which is used as raw material in the cement manufacturing process.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Parliament premises, which entails INSEE Cement purchasing dolomite from a quarry deposit owned and operated by the SEC in Matale.
Nandana Ekanayake, Chairman, INSEE Cement and Ratnasiri Kalupahana, Chairman, SEC signed and exchanged the agreement on behalf of the two organisations.
Indika Anuruddha Herath, State Minister, Rural Housing and Construction & Building Materials Industries Promotion, Officials from the Ministry, Bhagya Jayatilake, Deputy Chairman, SEC, and Thusith Gunawarnasuriya, Director Procurement and Logistics, and Chandana Nanayakkara, Head of External Affairs and Channel development attended the ceremony.
Commenting on the agreement, Nandana Ekanayake said, “We are committed to building a resilient nation and this agreement is another example of our commitment to help the local industries and communities.”
Additionally, this agreement furthers President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s ‘Vision of Prosperity’ for the nation, in supporting the development of small industries, and creating employment for communities in Matale.
