Inauguration of the 1st China-Sri Lanka Health Silk Road Forum

The 1st China-Sri Lanka Health Silk Road Forum was successfully inaugurated on the 26th of July 2021 with His Excellency Ambassador Dr.Palitha Kohona’s official meeting with Mr. CHEN Luping, the vice governor of Liaoning Province of P.R.China. The forum has virtually conducted in Sri Lanka & China.

On the Governor’s official meeting, Ambassador appreciated the hospitality of Liaoning People’s Government and said that China has achieved extraordinary success in pandemic control, Sri Lanka is learning relevant control measures and protocols from China. Ambassador Dr.Palitha Kohona is hoping to promote friendly local communications with Liaoning and further develop cooperation in the areas of trade, health and tourism.

Mr. CHEN Luping has welcomed Mr. Ambassador’s official visit to Liaoning and suggested to

  1. enhance cooperation on pandemic controls and experience sharing to build a community with a common future of human health;
  2. jointly promote “Belt and Road” initiative and promote practical cooperation in multi-dimensions;
  3. develop friendship provinces based on practical cooperation.

Ambassador has also visited the Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the 1st Affiliated Hospital of the University and a Bio-Technology Company specialized on frontier Stem Cell Technology.

On the virtual conference, Prof. Janitha Liyanage, Vice Chancellor of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, has introduced ‘’what can indigenous medicine play in the new normal?’’ (The special advantages of traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayuveda). Prof. Chandima Jeewandara, University of Sri Jayawardanapura, has presented ‘’how university respond to COVID-19 in Sri Lanka?’’.

As one of the achievements of this forum, Health Silk Road Committee is founded as a mechanism to contribute to international cooperation in combating the epidemic and construction of a Health Silk Road in global fight against the epidemic and facilitate global coordination and cooperation in this respect. Other opportunities in health frontier technology and indigenous medicine have been created.

The 1st Health Silk Road Forum is authorized and organized by Indo-Pacific China Business Advisory Council as its flagship product “Renew, Rebuild and Reinvent” Forum.  The Indo-Pacific China Business Advisory Council (Abbr. IPCBAC)’s mission is to promote sustainable growth with public- private- partnership (PPP), build political commitment and trigger action on critical economic issues at all levels, including the highest decision-making level, to facilitate the efficient policy coordination,  connectivity of infrastructure,  unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bond of all the dimensions on an environmentally sustainable basis for the benefit of all life on earth.
